Obituary of Jack William Gassaway
Jack William Gassaway, 45, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away March 8, 2024, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital.
Jack was born November 6, 1978, in Cayce, South Carolina, to Howard “Dempsey” and Frankie Gassaway. He graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School before attending Midlands Technical College. Jack spent most of his life working for his family’s business, Dempsey’s Auto Service, most recently as shop foreman. He loved playing guitar and singing in the band, Weekend Bender, competitive shooting, woodworking, and fishing trips with his Pop.
Jack is survived by his wife of 16 years, Shiela Gassaway and two sons, Benjamin and Mason. He is also survived by his grandfather, Roy “Pop” Taylor; his parents, Dempsey and Frankie Gassaway; his sister, Ginger Peters (James); his nephew, Adam Peters (Katarina); many cousins; and a new grand-nephew.
A memorial service will take place on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, South Carolina 29073. The family will greet friends at the conclusion of the service.
