Winifred "Toni" Stevens
Winifred M. “Toni” Stevens, 96, of Aiken, formally of Rock Island, Illinois, died Friday, May 18, 2012. She was born in Melcher, Iowa on March 24, 1916, the daughter of John C. Rogers and Grace A. Height Rogers. She married Almond F. Hoefle in 1935. Mr. Hoefle died in 1954. She married Charles M. Stevens in 1974. Mr. Stevens died in 1985.
Toni was preceded in death by a son, Michael B. Hoefle, her grandson Frederick C. Hoefle and 11 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son Frederick and daughter-in-law Carol Hoefle of Aiken, SC, and daughter-in-law Janet Hoefle of Rock Island, Illinois; two grandchildren, Fred Hoefle, Lori Kelley and Terri Hageman and 7 great-grandchildren.
Toni retired from the Service Rubber Company in 1973 after 22 years of service. In earlier years she enjoyed traveling, walking, shopping and visiting family and friends.
Upon moving to Aiken in 2003 she resided at Cumberland Village where she enjoyed visiting with friends and playing bingo. After incurring several medical issues she has resided at Anchor Health & Rehab since 2008.
Toni will be returned to Rock Island, Illinois where she will be buried at Beulah Cemetery. There will be no visitation or funeral service.
