Suzanne D Sykes
Mrs. Suzanne Daynard Sykes, 77, of Aiken, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at her residence. On Friday, May 18 the family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of George Funeral Home, 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken, officiated by Chaplain Dexter Lambert.
Mrs. Sykes was born in Syracuse, NY and is predeceased by her parents, Lawrence Daynard and Ruth Parrott Daynard; her stepfather, Patrick Welch; son, Jeffrey Wittig; step-son, Byron Sykes; and step daughter, Lydia Sykes.
Suzanne was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend who was cherished by all who knew her. She loved nature, was an avid reader, did needlework and crossword puzzles, played cards, Scrabble, mahjong and was an excellent cook. Previous to retiring, she was a school nurse in Maryland.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Charles M. Sykes of the home; daughters, Mary Beth Seaha (Peter) of Aiken; Susan Wittig of Southington, CT; and Cynthia Tolley (Jeffrey) of Spartanburg; step-son, Charles M. Sykes of Charlotte; and daughter-in-law, Martha Wittig of Jacksonville, Florida; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Hospice of Aiken, 600 Medical Park Drive, Suite A&B, Aiken, SC 29801.
